The entire quest pivots on Balthazar as your contact — return to him after every arc.

Steps ask Balthazar knowledge (128/22) and ask Balthazar reconcile (128/30) are obsolete as of patch 1.11p.
The obsidian talisman drops from the huge obsidian golem but is not listed as a turn-in item — it may be kept or sold.
